The principal NSW Act governing betting and bookmaking (Act No 114 of 1998). It provides for bookmakers' authorities to bet on approved betting events and to take telephone and electronic (internet) bets, bookmaker record-keeping and returns, race field information use, and responsible-gambling controls on betting advertising, inducements, betting accounts and deposit limits.
